Three Arrested After Shooting in Bristol Leaves Man Seriously Injured
Bristol, UK – Three people have been arrested following a shooting that left a man in his 20s seriously injured in Bristol, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed.
The incident occurred around 1:47 PM BST on Wednesday when a gun was fired at a car on Speedwell Road. Following the attack, the police launched a manhunt, resulting in the overnight arrest of a man in his 20s on suspicion of attempted murder, along with a man and woman, both in their 20s, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A crime scene remains active at St Anne’s Woods, near Brislington, which authorities have identified as an area of interest. Roads were closed, and four local schools were temporarily placed in lockdown as officers, including armed units, responded to the incident.
Police stated: “A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains. Officers have been working since the incident occurred to identify and locate the individual responsible, and three people are now in police custody.”
The force emphasized that no further suspects are being sought but a heightened police presence remains in the Speedwell and St Anne’s Woods areas. Witnesses to the shooting have been urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police.
Local residents expressed shock at the event, with one mother sharing relief that her child could be contacted immediately during the school lockdown.
