A tragic incident in Adelaide has left a community in mourning after a 39-year-old woman was fatally struck by a bus in the city’s central business district on Wednesday evening.

According to authorities, emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian crash at the intersection of King William Road and Victoria Drive at approximately 5:00 p.m. The woman, believed to be from North Adelaide, had reportedly entered the roadway to retrieve a personal item when she was hit by an oncoming bus.

Despite rapid response efforts, she could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Specialist investigators from Major Crash units examined the site, prompting the temporary closure of King William Road between North Terrace and War Memorial Drive, along with Victoria Drive. The closures remained in place for several hours before roads were fully reopened around 10:00 p.m.
